SSS Wed. Challenge Guest Designer – Week 4

Mel's Card Corner | SSS Wednesday Challenge Designer Spotlight

I’m back with my final post for the Designer Spotlight at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. I’ve really enjoyed my time in the Designer Spotlight and just wanted to send out a big thank you to Lorraine and Simon Says Stamp for inviting me to be in the spotlight this month.

This week’s challenge theme is Anything Goes featuring products from Tim Holtz. I’ve had some of his Alcohol Pearls in my stash for a while, but had never actually used them. I decided this challenge would be the perfect time to pull them out and I love the results I achieved! NOTE: Alcohol Inks and Pearls are very messy. I definitely recommend wearing gloves when working with them and using them in a well ventilated area.

For this card, I started by creating the Alcohol Pearls panel using a piece of Alcohol Ink Card Stock from Tim Holtz. I used the Alcohol Pearls Kit 1 to create the panel. This kit contains three half ounce bottles in Deception, Splendor, and Alchemy which are all gorgeous fall leaf colors.

After letting the panel dry completely, now it was time to pull the images I wanted for my project. This was achieved by using the Alcohol Lift Ink from Tim Holtz. It’s an ink pad specifically formulated to pull up the alcohol ink which can then be stamped onto another surface.

I wanted to create border of fall leaves around the entire focal panel. For this, I used the Nature’s Wonder stamp set from Tim Holtz. It has a really nice variety of line art leaves which worked really well with the Alcohol Lift Ink. I also used the Lift Ink to pull and stamp one of the sentiments from the same stamp set.

After I completed all the stamping, I die cut the focal panel using a stitched rectangle die. I matted it using a piece of dark red cardstock then wrapped some yellow baker’s twine around it. I then adhered the matted focal panel to an orange card base using foam tape and that completed the card.
