I’m thrilled to share I was asked to be the Designer Spotlight for the month of August at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. I’ve had fun participating in the Wednesday Challenge off and on for a few years now, so I was thrilled when Lorraine reached out and invited me to be the featured designer this month.
What all that intro stuff out of the way, it’s time for a new challenge! The theme for this week is Add a Die Cut showcasing Memory Box dies. I hope you’ll head over and play along with us. If you have some Memory Box dies to use on your design, we’d love to see them, but it’s not required for participation. Here’s the card I created for my Designer Spotlight.
I decided to do an inlaid die cutting technique using the Peaceful Butterfly Circle die. I want the butterfly to have rainbow wings, so I started by coloring a rainbow blend on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock using a rainbow of Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens.
I used the die to cut three of the butterfly circles. The first time from black cardstock, the second from the rainbow colored Bristol, and again from a piece of patterned paper from the Watercolor Wishes Petite Paper Pack from Lawn Fawn.
Before assembling all the inlaid die cut pieces, I stamped a sentiment on the patterned paper panel. It’s from the Fancy Greetings stamp set by Altenew stamped with VersaFine Black Onyx ink. Once the sentiment was dry, I inlaid all the die cut pieces.
To continue the rainbow theme, I adhered some 1/2″ double stick tape around all four sides of the front of the card base. I then burnished on some of the Rainbow Shattered Deco Foil Transfer Sheets by Therm-O-Web (the featured brand for August at SSS!). Once the foiling was complete, I adhered the inlaid panel to the card base using some Big Momma foam tape. For a final bit of embellishment, I added some clear Wink of Stella to the rainbow wings of the butterfly and that completed my card.
Until next time …
