It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. Our new challenge is a sketch challenge with the optional theme of animals. Our sponsor for this challenge is Craftyscrappers who generously provided me with some digital images to use for my design. Head over to the AAA Cards blog to see the sketch and play along with us.
For my card, I used an image and sentiment from the Waving Hello digital stamp set. I resized the images to the size I wanted using the Pages program on my Mac then printed the images using my laser printer. Printing them on a laser printer ensures the ink won’t smear when working with dye inks or alcohol inks.
After I printed the images, I die cut the background panel using one of the dies from the Stitched Rectangle Dies from Stampin’ Up!® I masked off a stripe where the sentiment using Post-It tape. Using the Make Waves Stencil from My Favorite Things, I used oval makeup brushes to blend on some Pool Party ink from Stampin’ Up to create the wave effect in the stripe.
Next, I turned my attention to the fish. I colored it using two combos of Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I used the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight for the body of the fish and the Light and Dark Poppy Parade for the fins and lips. Once the coloring was done, I used my paper snips to fussy cut the fish.
To assemble the card, I created a top-folding card base using Pool Party cardstock. I adhered the stitched rectangle panel to the front of the card using liquid glue then added the fish on top of that using Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a bit of embellishment, I added some clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen over the three fins of the fish and that completed my card.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun CAS project. Please be sure to head over to AAA Cards to play along with our current challenge. As always, please remember to keep your card CAS which, for us, means plenty of white space free of images, texture, pattern, etc. with minimal layers and embellishments.
