I’m back today with another card created using the new To Every Season stamp set available in the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog. This stamp set might easily be overlooked when perusing the catalog, but it’s definitely worth taking a second look because of the great versatility this set offers. As you can see, today’s card is very different from the fall-themed card I posted yesterday which was created using the same stamp set.
I started by creating the background using a piece of watercolor paper. I blended on some Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody, and Pineapple Punch inks. I flicked some water on the ink blended panel and then patted it up using a dry cloth after about 30 seconds to bleach out the ink a bit.
To give the background a bit more interested, I decided to stamp some bats on the panel using Gray Granite ink. The bats on the Gorgeous Grape second were stamped using the ink full strength. For the bats on the Mango Melody and Pineapple Punch sections, I stamped off once before stamping on the panel. This gave me a more consistent look on both the dark ink and the lighter inks.
I wanted to give the background a bit of shimmer as well, so I created my own shimmer spray and spritzed it over the watercolor panel. It’s difficult to capture in a photo, but I promise it’s there! LOL
I created the shimmer spray using the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, some 70% isopropyl alcohol, and a Stampin’ Spritzer. Fill the spritzer about a quarter of the way full with the alcohol then add 8-10 drops of the shimmer paint. Fill the spritzer the rest of the way with the alcohol then add the cap and shake vigorously to disburse the shimmer paint.
Tip: I find adding in a little bit of alcohol before the adding the paint makes it much easier to disburse the paint. If you add the paint directly into a dry spritzer, it tends to stick a bit more making it much more difficult to combine.
For the focal images and sentiment, I stamped some of the bats and the Happy Halloween sentiment on some Basic Black cardstock using VersaMark ink. I added some white embossing powder over everything then melted it using my Heat Tool. I fussy cut the bats out using my Paper Snips and cut out the sentiment using one of the dies from the Stitched Rectangles Dies.
To assemble the card, I matted the watercolor panel on a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock using liquid glue. I then adhered the matted panel to a top-folding card base made from Mango Melody cardstock, also using liquid glue. Finally, I adhered the bats and sentiment to the card using our new black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed the project I’ve shared. Until next time …
